You and I know it. No need to hide behind the truth…


We lost some darn good connections and potential friendships because we just couldn’t keep in touch with those people.


We meet with new people all the time, at all kind of industry events, meetings, professional gatherings, and more.


Those situations are no strangers to you: We all met an interesting industry leader at a conference, or a friend introduced us to a potential investor or a businessperson, a hot lead or a client.


We had a small chat, maybe a few emails and even met and had plans for things to do together. And that’s it.



This is where this relationship ended.

Of course you tell yourself the best excuses in the world
for that:

  • You have such a busy schedule, there’s no way you can keep in touch
  • There are other, more important commitments you must attend to
  • You don’t really believe it will work… so why bother connecting?
  • You’re afraid you’ll get ignored if you make an effort, because it has happened before
  • You don’t want to bug or annoy anyone
  • And many more...

The outcome is that this connection is gone.


Then, when the time comes, we remind ourselves that this specific person we met before could have been here for us…
right now! Damn!


but we will never contact him or her. We lost our window of opportunity with that person.


That’s annoying, but we convince ourselves that the right person will come along….


But when?!

Time to be honest and take control of your
business relationships

Why should you wait for the next opportunity to knock on your door


instead of building relationships way before you need them?


Then, when the time comes, everything is reachable with one phone call, and someone who wants to help you is on the other side of the phone… 


Remember, people make business with people.


The secret is forming authentic relationships and nourishing the human touch side,


getting into someone’s heart and mind a lot because of who you are, and not only because of what you do.



But it goes hand in hand with strategy and planning in order to keep it going for the long run.
